Pros
The staff are incredibly helpful, and will go much further than classroom assignments and projects to answer questions and help you understand new techniques. They aren't brand-loyal and are very honest about which software is better/worse, which features are important or not, and they are always extremely prompt and thorough in their responses. The teachers are what make this school good.
Cons
The coursework is a very light load, and while the projects are often challenging and fun, the competition between students isn't there. One of the benefits (to me) of staggered, soft-deadline scheduling is to look and see what others have done first, but much of the submitted work is sloppy or rushed. Many students enroll with [apparently] little to no experience and much of their work is very sub-par.

I would not recommend *starting* art-centered education at Sessions. Rather, I would insist one gain a background in drawing and/or software before attending. Your art is what you put into it and no number of degrees ensures your work is good. However, independent and self-taught artists have much to gain from Sessions as the structure, guidance and critiques can work to push your art to a new level, forcing revisions and insight that you wouldn't normally do or see. Knowing what you don't know will yield the best results from the talented Sessions staff. Though they are skilled at interpreting your work and determining what you are struggling with, if you don't ask for advice, you may not receive the help you need. Student work isn't incredible, but that is the fault of the students. Every assignment I've submitted, I've received large amounts of feedback on how to make it better. It's up to me to make those changes. At the intro level, it feels like students just don't care enough, but that's to be expected as Sessions caters to those who truly WANT a career in art. Art is what you put into it and how you develop yourself. If you seek competition, you may need to look at various portfolios across the internet art community. If you want to develop yourself as an artist, you will most definitely find improvement at Sessions.

Pros
The classes are on demand and work at your own pace. The isntructors are real working professionals and very knowledgeable. They cover a broad subject area. The subjects and assignments are current and real world.
Cons
In the online setting I really missed interaction with other students. I think the opportunity to interact and discuss topics and concepts with other students would have added another dimension.
Comments
I have really gotten a lot more out of my online learning experience than I expected. The school and advisors are incredibly good at communicating and keeping in touch.

The lessons are wonderful with a lot of interactive components. The instructors are also readily available to answer any additional questions. I did the Graphic Design Certificate program and felt very prepared with the knowledge and skills I gained. All of the homework involved doing practical projects that I now have for my portfolio.

Pros
Great staff and thorough/intense courses which focus on design and help create a strong portfolio; all staff and employees are very professional
Cons
I honestly cant think of any cons, except that in order to excel you must be very creative! Design is a competitive field ( if that is considered a con)

Pros
Quality of courses & content=excellent:::Strong professors, active in their fields of creative expertise:::Each prof brings own experience, style, personality to the content, much like bricks & mortar college:::Profs provide good feedback, use 'sandwich technique':::School policy allows to resubmit work up to 3x for better grade:::Career counselors>>positive experience, helpful attitude, flexible to my needs
Cons
Two weak points to me: 1. Career Counselor friendly, but when inquired about career placement assistance at end of program, said they don't give placement assistance, only a letter certifying completion; I would like help in my career change, but realize career placement requires local job market knowledge, they’re in another state. Still, would like to see this area developed. 2. Online navigation system: works, but as a design school, it could be more creative; feels too run of the mill to me. I’ve spoken up about this, and they said there's a site update planned, so probably a temporary issue.
Comments
Bottom line for me is quality of courses, professional level content, and access to experienced professionals in my learning process. I’d recommend Sessions for design students seeking an online program. I'm not an expert on pricing, but seems reasonable for what's included in the certificate. I'm really enjoying the experience, and seeing my marketable design skills & knowledge growing a lot.

Pros
I like Sessions because it gives the working professional a chance to obtain their certificate or degree online and complete the courses at your own pace. The online portal where students access their classes is always up and running and it has an easy navigation. I like that the lectures are hands on, where they give you examples to follow along with and the professors respond in a timely manner and give great critiques. Since the school is online so it is very diverse, there are people from all over the world with different cultures and backgrounds including the professors so it makes the experience even better that you get to see different designs and views from different people.
Cons
The only con I had was not really with the school but with on outside loan provider that did not recognize the school as full or even half time because it is an online school that does not have traditional semesters. So the provider would not allow me to take out a school loan to cover the cost of the tuition.
Comments
Overall I like Sessions and I think it is a great way for working adults to obtain their degree or change professions like myself without having to sacrifice taking off of work to go to a campus class.
