Great school overall in my opinion, I transferred from a larger state university as I wanted a small school environment but could not afford to go to a private school. The campus is nice, athletic facilities and library are top notch. There are alot of student groups on campus which I recommend joining as it makes it easier to meet people and make friends. The towns pretty small but at around 100k it has most of the major retail stores and restaurants found in larger cities and there are alot of bars that cater to students if that's your thing, though I wouldn't go so far as to say its a party school. All the classes are pretty small and you really get to know the professors in your major. I never had what I felt was a bad professor and some were truly great. You wont find the same things you find at UT or A&M but if you are looking for a smaller school where you don't feel lost in the crowd I think its one of the best in the state.

This university was terrible. The people were close minded ultra conservative small town Christians who have lived in (metaphorically) and will remain in the "box". The town is gross and has nothing to do. Night life = pathetic. (Graham's is not nightlife to any self-respecting human being) College experience = disheartening. Dorm life = a joke. Gross drugs abound (meth). If you want to have a college experience that broadens your horizons and opens your mind, this is not it. This place shuts you off, shuts you down and will make you question the University experience. The people are hardcore Christian, cowboy hat wearing, bland, "keystone light" drinkers with no inspiring aspirations. Please save your money and do not got to this school. This school was honestly the most depressing and negative time of my life. This place will drain you of your human spirit and reduce your energy to zero. Find a different school to go to. I cannot stress this enough.

    Pros

The campus is a fair size with a diverse student body. The campus is clean, quiet, and safe for the most part. Some, but not all, majors had good curricula. Offered slightly above average sports. San Angelo is growing.

    Cons

I was not satisfied with the art department and ended up transferring. Not a lot to do in town on the weekends except a few bars, one mall, etc.

My experience at ASU was good, and I met a lot of good friends there. The education offered gets a thumbs up.
